Tasmania is an archipelago of 334 islands situated at the south-east corner of the Australian continent. Roughly the size of the Republic of Ireland, the state has a population of just 500 000 people. A mix of historic architecture and modern infrastructure, along with a vibrant arts and local food scene, all combined with a relaxed pace of life makes Tasmania largely unique.

Tasmania offers fantastic transport links to mainland Australia by sea and air, with the state capital Hobart being an hour’s flight from Melbourne and an hour and a half from Sydney. From these two hubs you can continue on to many international destinations.

Tasmania has a balanced climate with four distinct seasons. The average temperature in summer is around 22°, and around 12° in winter. Hobart has Australia’s most affordable housing compared to other state and territory capitals, meaning migrants are able to secure a new home easily – one of the biggest hurdles when moving to a different country.

Tasmania welcomes skilled and business migrants who have a genuine interest in living in Australia’s island state. If you are seeking a relaxed and evenly paced lifestyle with all the conveniences of ‘big city living’, then Tasmania may well offer the life you’ve been looking for.

"We moved to Tasmania from the United Kingdom as we felt that there was greater opportunity to achieve and develop professionally within the agricultural industry here. It also provides us with a better and healthier family lifestyle. People have welcomed us with open arms and are genuinely interested in us and where we’ve come from. They have been very kind and generous, especially during our initial weeks before the container arrived, where they lent us furniture and bedding. It’s been a long, stressful and expensive process from the initial application to the actual move, but it has definitely been worth it all."
